Breathe Easy

Why an air purifier is a must-have for your home

Given how many of us spend most of the day indoors, be it at home or in the office, it is imperative that we take steps to ensure that the air we breathe indoors is as clean as possible.

In fact, indoor air pollution can often be significantly worse than the outdoors due to activities like cooking, smoking, and the use of cleaning and personal care products that release volatile organic compounds like formaldehyde. Have a pet at home? Their dander and fur could also affect the air quality. Spotted a patch of mould in the toilet? This organism can severely affect your health as well. Furthermore, pollutants and allergens also enter the premises from outside the home or office. Case in the point? The haze.

Filtering the air

As poor indoor air quality can lead to a host of health problems, including asthma, ischaemic heart disease, stroke and even lung cancer, an air purifier can play a big role in helping us maintain our wellbeing and stay healthy.

Generally, air purifiers use fans to draw in air from the surroundings. This air is then channelled through a filter which traps contaminants before being released back into the room. As such, the filter is perhaps the most important component of the device. The HEPA filter is widely considered the most effective as it can trap at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mould, bacteria and any airborne particles that are 0.3 microns or larger in size.

Staying safe from COVID-19

According to the National Environment Agency, HEPA filters are at least 99.97% efficient at capturing viral particles associated with SARS-CoV-2, making air purifiers with such filters a good-to-have measure to remove virus aerosols.

Why choose a Daikin Streamer air purifier

Here at Daikin, we offer more than 10 types of air purifiers, all of which come with either Electrostatic HEPA Filters or TAFU-HEPA filters (only in the 70 and 80 models), to suit the different needs of our customers.

The most potent of these air purifiers are those from our Streamer series. These hi-tech air purifiers are powered by the Double Method — our patented Streamer technology — and Active Plasma Ion, both of which work together to destroy viruses, bacteria, allergens and odours. Need extra protection? Choose either the MKC70 or MKC80 models, both of which pack double the punch as they have twice the number of Streamer units compared to conventional models.

Here’s another plus point about Daikin’s Streamer Air Purifiers: they come with super durable filters that can last for as long as 10 years. That’s considerable cost savings for you!

The combination of these state-of-the-art technologies has been proven to be effective in deactivating a wide range of viruses, bacteria and allergens including but not limited to:

  • Viruses and bacteria
    Influenza virus (type A, H1N1)
Highly virulent avian influenza virus (type A, H5N1)
    Norovirus
    Tuberculosis bacteria

  • Fungal and pollen-based allergens
    Sooty mould
    Aspergillus
    Fusarium
    Cedar pollen

  • Hazardous Chemical Substances
    Formaldehyde
    Diesel exhaust particulates
    Benzene
    Ethyl acetate

HOW IT WORKS

The concept behind the Streamer technology is based on 3Cs – CLASH, CYCLE and CLEAN.

The device first discharges high-speed electrons that have a powerful oxidisation effect. These electrons CLASH with the harmful substances in the air and eliminate them.

Under the CYCLE process, the deodorising filter absorbs and decomposes the odour.

The air purifier then performs CLEAN, which involves removing the bacteria from the dust collection filter.

Key Features of Daikin Streamer Purifiers:

Unlike their conventional counterparts, Daikin’s Streamer air purifiers use a multi-step process that makes the air in your home or office cleaner, as well as the maintenance of the device easier.

  • Step 1: The air drawn into the device goes through the filter, which traps contaminants.

  • Step 2: The deodorising filter prevents foul smells from entering the room by absorbing and decomposing any odours.

  • Step 3: The contaminants on the filter are oxidised by our patented Streamer technology. This process also means mould and bacterial growth is less likely to occur in the device, which means less cleaning for the user.

MOISTURISE THE AIR WITH THE MCK55 & MCK70

Our MCK55 and MCK70 models come with an additional humidifier function which creates moisture that is released into the air, creating a more comfortable indoor environment and preventing conditions like dry skin, dry throat and other health issues caused by dry indoor air.

Make life better

Just as with air conditioners, modern air purifiers today come with a host of useful functions that make the user experience more seamless and convenient.

Here are the different modes Daikin air purifiers come with.

  • Pet mode
Have a furkid at home? Turn on Pet Mode and have the air purifier pick up pet hair or pollen before it can reach the floor.

  • Circulator Mode
In this mode, the air purifier switches between different rates of airflow to help circulate the air in the room and prevent unevenness of temperature. This mode is best used when the air purifier is placed opposite an air conditioner.

  • Econo Mode
Reduce energy consumption with this mode that has the machine switching between the ‘QUIET’ and ‘LOW’ fan settings. Best used during sleeping hours.

  • Auto fan mode
Not too fussed about the modes? Simply set the machine to Auto Fan Mode and let it decide the best settings according to the level of air impurity in your room.

Smart connectivity

Sit back and relax. There’s no need to get off the couch to adjust the air purifier. Simply connect your Daikin air purifier to your mobile phone using the Daikin Mobile Controller to perform the following:

  1. Monitor your indoor air quality. The app even visualises the levels of PM2.5, humidity, odour and temperature in blue, orange and red.
  2. Choose your desired Operation Settings such as fan speed and mode.
  3. Determine operation times with the Schedule Timer.
  4. Activate the Child Lock function
  5. View the Cumulative Graph Display which shows usage trends.
